The Toastmasters Club of Ceylinco Life was recently honoured with three prestigious awards for its prowess and growth in the past year.
The Club was also accorded ‘President’s Distinguished Club’ status – the highest level of club distinction in Toastmasters International – after it received the three awards: the ‘Eight-80 Membership’ Award, the ‘Build Back Stronger’ Award and the ‘Phoenix’ Award.
In Toastmasters International, President’s Distinguished Club status is conferred on clubs that meet the 10 criteria of the Distinguished Club Programme. The criteria are designed to measure a club’s overall performance in four areas – Education of Members, Membership Growth, Training of Club Officers and Administration of the Club.
Meanwhile, the Eight-80 Membership Award recognises clubs that have attracted at least eight new members in the year and retained 80% of the club base during the period. The Build Back Stronger Award was introduced to recognise the success of club efforts to reinstate inactive members, while the Phoenix Award as its name suggests, is awarded to a club that has risen like the mythological Greek bird.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Headquartered in Englewood, Colorado, the organisation’s membership is approximately 280,000 in more than 14,700 clubs in 144 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders.
