Another Ceylinco Life Green Branch to rise in Divulapitiya

admin | May 6, 2019

Construction commenced recently on another eco-friendly branch building for Ceylinco Life, as Sri Lanka’s life insurance leader accelerated the pace of its Green Agenda to promote sustainable energy use and conservation of resources via its branch network.

The latest Ceylinco Life ‘Green Branch’ is to be built in Divulapitiya on land owned by the Company, at No 131, Mirigama Road, Divulapitiya.
The purpose-designed two storey building offering 5500 square feet of office space will be powered entirely by a 20kW solar power system, resulting in zero consumption of electricity from the national grid, and will have its own rainwater harvesting facility and its own waste water recycling plant, in keeping with Ceylinco Life’s commitment to the environment.

Designed for optimal use of natural light and minimum consumption of pipe-borne water, the new building will be equipped with the latest energy-efficient lighting and air conditioning systems, and minimise the use of timber in construction. The Company said it plans to plant trees within the premises to further contribute towards its green agenda.

The foundation stone for the new building was laid by Ceylinco Life Managing Director/CEO Mr Thushara Ranasinghe accompanied by other directors.
Construction is estimated to be completed in ten months, and the new building will be equipped with a training facility for up to 50 people at a time, and have ample dedicated parking space.

Ceylinco Life owns the buildings housing its offices in Anuradhapura, Trincomalee, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Kandy, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Tissamaharama, Negombo, Ratnapura, Kotahena, Mount Lavinia and Wellawatte, many of which have been converted to solar energy. New branch buildings purpose-built to the company’s sustainable energy model are those at Horana, Panadura, Wennappuwa, Bandarawela, Chilaw and Kadawatha. Another two Green branches are under construction in Malabe and Nelliady.

Ceylinco Life operates the largest network of more than 275 branches in Sri Lanka’s life insurance industry, giving it a physical presence in 142 cities, towns and villages in every one of the island’s 25 districts.

Adjudged Sri Lanka’s Best Life Insurer in 2018 for the fifth consecutive year by World Finance, and the most popular life insurance company in the country for 13 consecutive years by SLIM-Nielsen, Ceylinco Life has been the market leader in Sri Lanka’s life insurance industry for 15 of the 31 years it has been in operation. The Company has close to a million lives covered by active policies and is acknowledged as a benchmark in the local insurance industry for innovation, product research and development, customer service, professional development and corporate social responsibility.
